The movie held a promotional event in Beijing on April 22, with director Alan Mak Siu-fai alongside the major cast stars Huang Jingyu and Wang Likun in attendance.
Mak, a famous Hong Kong filmmaker best known for co-directing Infernal Affairs franchise, said the movie incorporates a lot of authentic details derived from frontline work in Chinese procuratorates, allowing audiences to gain a deeper appreciation for this profession and its real-life nuances.
Scriptwriter Zhao, a law graduate from Tsinghua University, said he has handled thousands of cases over past two decades, accumulating a wealth of materials regarding frontline work conducted by prosecutors.
The film tells the story of two prosecutors investigating a university professor for a murder case. As the investigation deepens, they discover a notorious wealthy businessman closely connected to the case and unravel an old case buried for years.
The movie, which was shot in Fujian and Guangdong provinces, will open across domestic theaters on April 29.
